Wed 4th Aug 10: Friendly; Delabole Utd AFC Res 0 (0) v (2) 3 Lifton.
The reserves kicking off their friendly season against Kingsley League side Lifton. The reserves also playing under a new manager in Mark Binney, with most of the youngsters from last year staying on and a few new players joining the side. The first fifteen minutes of the match were mostly the Slaters, with great movement and passing a couple of half chances falling our way. The Lifton defence were looking quite vulnerable when we pushed forward. Then the game evened out with the visitors enjoying spells of possession which brought them two soft goals before the halftime whistle, 0-2. The second half saw more good possession by the Slaters and using the wide space well at times. The team were stringing passes together numbering 8 or more, but just lacking the overall finishing capabilities. Lifton scored their third shortly before fulltime, 0-3.
A very promising show for parts of the match, when the season is a few games old, the players will be in tune with each other and playing well together. Mid table finish?.
